# Fuel System & Stations

FreeCarts includes an integrated fuel economy featuring 3D fuel pumps, continuous fuel hoses, portable canisters, and remote emergency deliveries.

## Fuel Mechanics

* Carts consume fuel at a configurable rate (`consumption-rate`) only while moving forward or reversing.
* Real-time fuel percentages are displayed on the action bar above the hotbar.
* When fuel reaches zero, engine velocity halts until refueled.

## 3D Fuel Stations

Fuel stations provide fixed refueling points across the world.

### Station Placement and Orientation

* Administrators place stations using the item obtained from `/freecart fuelstation give` (requires `freecarts.admin`).
* Stations automatically orient themselves to face the player upon placement.
* Behind the visual model, an interaction hitbox of barrier blocks is created based on the active model's `.meta` file dimensions (`hitbox: widthX,widthZ,height`).
* Bedrock players connecting through GeyserMC automatically receive decorative substitute blocks (`bedrock-base-block` and `bedrock-top-block`) instead of Java display entities.

### Seamless 3D Refueling Hose

* Players click the station nozzle to pick up the hose.
* A single continuous 3D pipe extends from the pump directly to the player's main hand.
* Right-clicking an owned cart connects the nozzle and opens the refueling interface.
* Idle stabilization and client-side interpolation eliminate jitter while holding the hose.

### Station Explosions and Respawning

* Fuel stations explode if a vehicle collides at high speed (`collision-explosion-min-velocity`) or if ignited with flint and steel.
* When destroyed, stations automatically regenerate after a configurable delay (`respawn.delay-seconds`) and notify nearby players.

## Fuel Canisters and Air Deliveries

### Portable Fuel Cans

* Portable canisters restore fuel in the field without visiting a pump.
* Right-clicking a cart while holding a fuel can restores fuel.
* Empty glass bottles can be refilled into fuel cans by right-clicking any active fuel station (`bottle-fill-enabled`).

### Emergency Supply Drops

* Stranded players can request emergency supplies using `/freecart delivery fuelcan <amount>`.
* A supply crate is delivered from the sky by parachute at the player's coordinates.
* Delivery fees and canister costs are deducted via Vault economy.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://mavenverse.gitbook.io/mavenverse-docs/freecarts/fuel-system.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
